Siemens Energy appoints Layla El Hares Managing Director of Egypt

Siemens Energy, a world leading energy technology company, announces the appointment of Layla El Hares as the Managing Director of Egypt, effective February 1,2022.

An Egyptian and French national, El Hares will be based in Cairo and is responsible for supporting Siemens Energy’s activities in Egypt, as well as developing opportunities to meet the challenges of the energy transition.

As a senior executive with over 21 years of international experience across the energy sector, particularly in the oil and gas industry, El Hares brings significant expertise to the role.

Layla is an excellent addition to the Siemens Energy team will be instrumental as we navigate the energy transition in partnership with Egypt to achieve its sustainable development vision,” said Dietmar Siersdorfer, Managing Director Middle East at Siemens Energy.

El Hares joins Siemens Energy after her role as General Manager, Development East Mediterranean and Asset Manager Egypt for Royal Dutch Shell, a role she assumed in 2017 following the company’s acquisition of BG Group. Prior to Shell, El Hares held several senior roles in BG Group in Egypt, Europe and globally.

Before BG Group, Layla El Hares held many key leadership roles with Schlumberger from Engineering to business development, undertaking assignments in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

El Hares holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Alexandria University and a project management degree from Herriot Watt University.
