Published on : 2025-09-25

Eng. Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, attended the 2025 Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Day, which featured three in-depth panel discussions addressing key safety issues in Egypt’s petroleum sector.
The first session, titled “Efficiency and Capacity Building in Occupational Safety and Health”, emphasized the importance of strict compliance with safety standards, alongside specialized training and emergency simulations. Speakers highlighted how continuous training enhances workers’ readiness, reduces accidents, and ensures uninterrupted production.
The second session, “Road Safety: Strategic Plan for Safe Transportation”, focused on improving road transport safety through driver training, performance monitoring, and regular vehicle inspections, in addition to leveraging advanced technologies such as simulators and emergency response systems. Panelists praised Egypt’s recent road infrastructure upgrades, noting their role in reducing risks and saving lives.
The third session, “Protecting Lifelines: Oil and Gas Pipelines”, underscored the need for coordination between petroleum companies, local authorities, and state agencies to secure the national pipeline network. Participants stressed the role of early leak-detection technologies, electronic monitoring, and stronger measures against illegal encroachments, all aimed at safeguarding lives, assets, and communities.
Concluding the day, participants reaffirmed that safety remains the top priority across all stages of petroleum operations—from design and construction to operation—ensuring the protection of people, assets, and the environment.
