Badawi Visits Ahl Masr Hospital: Over 8,000 Burn Patients Treated Since March

Eng. Karim Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, visited Ahl Masr Burn Hospital, the first and largest free-of-charge burn treatment facility in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa. The visit comes as part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and support for community healthcare initiatives.
Dr. Heba Elsewedy, Founder of Ahl Masr Foundation, welcomed the Minister along with CEO Ms. Eman Sherif and Hospital Executive Director Mr. Refaat Abdelmaksoud. The tour included emergency rooms, inpatient wards, and intensive care units.
The Minister praised the hospital’s advanced capabilities and high-quality care, noting the Ministry of Petroleum takes pride in being among the first to support this vital humanitarian cause and will continue doing so as part of its CSR agenda.
Dr. El-Sewedy expressed gratitude for the Minister’s visit, highlighting that the hospital is operating at full capacity and aims to complete its second phase soon with the support of ministries, public institutions, and private sector partners. She noted that Ahl Masr has transformed burn treatment in Egypt by offering integrated medical, psychological, and social support.
Since opening in March 2024, the hospital has treated over 8,000 burn patients, handled more than 2,500 emergency cases, and provided intensive care for 350+ critical patients, including both children and adults.
