Petroleum Sector Rehabilitates 60 Homes and Provides Small Projects in Al-Amriya

As part of its commitment to social responsibility and supporting communities near operational areas, Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, alongside Major General Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said, Governor of Alexandria, and senior officials from the petroleum sector, inaugurated the rehabilitation and development of 60 homes in Al-Rawda 45 and Al-Wafaa Wal-Amal villages in the Al-Amriya district of Alexandria. The initiative also includes small business projects to generate sustainable income for residents. The project was executed by Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC) in partnership with the Orman Association.
The Minister of Petroleum and the Governor of Alexandria, accompanied by Dr. Amr Lotfy, Chairman of AMOC, Engineer Ahmed El-Gendy, Chairman of the Orman Association, and Major General Mamdouh Shaaban, Director of the Orman Association, handed over the keys to newly renovated, fully furnished homes to the village residents.
AMOC’s project focused on assessing the needs of Al-Rawda 45 and Al-Wafaa Wal-Amal villages in Al-Amriya, aiming to significantly improve living conditions. The initiative involved the rehabilitation and furnishing of 60 homes with essential appliances and furniture. In addition, 20 small business projects were launched, and livestock was distributed as a source of income for the local community. The total investment for the project exceeded EGP 19 million.
In his speech, Engineer Karim Badawi emphasized the petroleum sector’s dedication to contributing positively to the communities surrounding its projects and facilities across Egypt. He noted that these efforts are an extension of the Ministry’s broader goal of human development, recognizing the vital role of individuals in driving success. Badawi expressed his appreciation for those involved in the execution of the project and commended AMOC for its leadership in community development initiatives. He also voiced his deep respect for the residents of the two villages, affirming that providing for their needs and ensuring a dignified life is a fundamental right.
Governor Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said praised the project as an exemplary model of human development, reflecting the Ministry of Petroleum’s alignment with the President’s initiative for nationwide human development and capacity building.
The Governor added that the project in Al-Rawda 45 and Al-Wafaa Wal-Amal villages showcases the Ministry’s high level of responsibility towards citizens. He noted the transformative impact the initiative has had on residents’ lives, turning challenges into opportunities, and commended AMOC’s leadership for delivering impactful, socially responsible projects that go beyond housing to create sustainable livelihoods for the community.
Dr. Amr Lotfy, Chairman of AMOC, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to social responsibility and its role in creating a positive impact on surrounding communities. He highlighted the importance of such initiatives, which directly improve the quality of life for people, aligning with the Egyptian government’s “Decent Life” initiative. Lotfy emphasized the importance of the partnership with the Orman Association, noting that the success of the project reflects the collaborative efforts of the petroleum sector and its partners in serving local communities.
Engineer Ahmed El-Gendy, Chairman of the Orman Association, expressed his pride in the longstanding strategic partnership with the Ministry of Petroleum, describing the project as just one part of the sector’s ongoing contributions to community service, particularly in healthcare and social care for underprivileged families, with a total investment reaching EGP 170 million over the years.
The project inauguration was attended by Engineer Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum for the Technical Office and official spokesperson, Engineer Medhat Shaaban, Assistant Chairman of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation for Social Development, Yasmine Naguib, Social Responsibility Officer at the Ministry of Petroleum, and Fatma Ibrahim, member of the Ministry’s Social Responsibility Team.
