Published on : 2023-09-17

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has completed the renovation and delivery of 100 houses in the villages of Abu Simbel and Karnak in the Al-Nahda area in Amriya, Alexandria Governorate.

This comes in cooperation between Sidi Kerir Petrochemical Company (Sidpec) and the Orman Association, within the framework of implementing the main objectives of the Supreme Committee for Social Responsibility in the Petroleum Sector.

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla launched the renovations’ work strategy in order to accelerate the implementation of priority community projects in the surrounding neighborhoods.

The final phase was delivered at Sidpec’s headquarters in Alexandria and includes 33 houses for the residents of the villages of Abu Simbel and Karnak.

The Al-Nahda Villages Development Initiative project is exemplary for its role in raising the efficiency and enhancing the social contribution of the petroleum sector in its areas of operation. This is especially the case after the petroleum sector’s new strategy for corporate social responsibility was executed, catering to the neediest villages and working to achieve sustainable development. It also makes a positive contribution to the Hayah Karima (“Decent Life”) presidential initiative.

Sidpec’s Chairman Mohamed Ibrahim indicated that the rehabilitation initiative of the homes of the Al-Nahda villages is part of the strategy of the Supreme Committee for Social Responsibility in the Petroleum Sector,  which is supported with the follow-up and contributions of the Egyptian Petrochemical Holding Company. It has succeeded in providing safe and decent housing for citizens and improving the quality of life for the people of the villages in the Al-Nahda area surrounding the company.

For his part, Mamdouh Shaaban, Director General of the Orman Association, confirmed that this work comes as an extension of the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Association. He said that what is being witnessed is a real achievement and a culmination of the efforts made to provide a decent life for the people of the Nahda area.  This is part of the vision and strategy that is being used to build the new republic in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030, he added.
