(spe.org) The commitment gives official recognition to a policy that Eni is already following in its operations. It is another important step in the company’s transformation. Building on its business model, Eni focuses on long-term investments, looking beyond short-term profit priorities, in operational, environmental, and social terms as set out in the company’s new mission, inspired by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

“This no-go commitment reflects our ambition to be part of the solution to the challenges the world is facing today and help deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals,” said Claudio Descalzi, Eni’s chief executive officer.

The company also underlined its existing commitment to the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services (BES). As it operates in diverse environmental contexts around the world with different ecological sensitivities and regulatory regimes, Eni manages biodiversity issues by implementing its BES management model. The model was developed also thanks to long-lasting partnerships with international organizations in biodiversity conservation.
