Egypt, Italy probe cooperation in petroleum, renewable energy fields

Egypt and Italy have explored opportunities for cooperation in petroleum, oil, mining, critical minerals, and new and renewable energy, as stated on April 22nd. This discussion took place during a meeting between Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla and Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso.

Urso highlighted three potential areas of collaboration between the two countries: oil and gas, green technology industry, and digitization.

In related news, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir announced that the trade exchange volume between Egypt and Italy reached $5.145 billion in 2023, with Italian investments in Egypt exceeding $3 billion. Samir made these remarks during his meeting with Urso to explore enhancing economic ties.

Separately, Urso met with Egyptian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talaat to discuss the possibility of establishing an artificial intelligence (AI) center in Egypt to serve Africa.
