El-Molla Praises Schlumberger Contributions to Egyptian Petroleum Sector

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with Schlumberger’s CEO Olivier Le Peuch where they discussed the company’s activities in Egypt, particularly the two seismic survey projects in the Red Sea and Gulf of Suez regions.
The meeting further discussed the company’s effective contribution to the launch of the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG), as well as its participation in human cadres training programs in the petroleum sector and providing the latest technologies and digital solutions to support the petroleum industry in Egypt.
During the meeting, El Molla stated that Schlumberger is a strategic partner for the petroleum sector and has contributed to achieving many successes recently,
He noted that the EUG is one of the fruits of the Modernization project and is in line with the government’s digital transformation vision for the sector due to its advanced technologies. These technologies facilitated the process of placing bid rounds and providing the geological data required by foreign companies to make investment decisions.
The minister also confirmed that the company has active contributions in the field of cadres training due to the scientific and practical training programs it provides for workers in the petroleum sector participating in the middle management program.
Le Peuch stated that Egypt enjoys an advantage in the company’s business portfolio due to its attractive investment opportunities in the field of oil and gas, and in light of the successes that have been achieved in recent years. He further indicated that Schlumberger is proud of its contributions to the petroleum sector in Egypt, especially the provision of advanced technologies, and seeks to expand its business portfolio in Egypt during the coming period.
El Molla Discusses Natural Gas Cooperation with Mozambican Counterpart
On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with Mozambique’s Energy Minister Carlos Zacarias to discuss ways of exchanging expertise in the natural gas industry to boost cooperation in this field.
In addition, they also discussed opportunities for Egyptian companies to contribute to projects in Mozambique.
The two ministers also reviewed the current African-Egyptian efforts and preparations for COP 27 as well as the development of a united vision for the African continent to be presented during the conference.
El Molla Meets John Kerry, States COP 27 is Ideal Platform for African Voices
The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla said that COP 27 will be an opportunity to deliver Africa’s voice to the world and it will help in achieving a balanced energy transition considering the demands of the African people to benefit from their resources and enjoy the technological and financial support they need to combat climate change.
El Molla’s remarks came during his meeting with John Kerry, the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, where they also discussed ways to consolidate cooperation and coordination regarding the COP 27 summit, which will be held in Egypt next November.
El Molla highlighted that the meeting came as part of Egypt’s keenness to continue regional and international communication and coordination to come up with a successful output to be applied.
The meeting also reviewed international efforts to reduce carbon emissions within the energy sector as well as other related initiatives.
The Egyptian minister showcased the country’s efforts in emissions reduction and achieving sustainable growth in the energy industry. He said that Egypt’s energy strategy is being updated and it seeks to use natural gas as the cleanest fossil fuel in addition to working on diversifying energy resources, most notably through the inclusion of hydrogen.
