25 Years of Hydraulic Fracturing in Egypt: Halliburton Launches “Zeus IQ” AI Platform

Eng. Karim Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, attended Halliburton’s celebration marking 25 years of introducing hydraulic fracturing technology in Egypt—an innovation that has significantly improved oil and gas extraction efficiency, particularly in mature fields.
During the event, Halliburton announced its plan to deploy artificial intelligence in Egypt’s hydraulic fracturing operations through its smart platform “Zeus IQ”, which enables automated, real-time fracture execution. The technology was showcased by Shawn Staszak, VP of Production Enhancement at Halliburton.
Minister Badawi emphasized that increasing production is a national priority and highlighted the crucial role of digitalization and modern technology in maximizing output, affirming the Ministry’s full support for adopting cutting-edge innovations like AI in upstream operations.
He also praised Halliburton as a key partner in Egypt’s energy development, stating that collaboration with global companies is essential to unlocking the sector’s full potential.
Eng. Rami Yassine, Halliburton’s Executive VP for MENA, reaffirmed the company’s strong relationship with Egypt and expressed pride in being part of the country’s hydraulic fracturing journey. He commended Egypt’s bold reform program under the leadership of Minister Badawi, calling it a gateway for future investment.
During the ceremony, Halliburton honored several key partners in Egypt’s energy sector, including: EGPC, Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), Eni, Apache Corporation, Cheiron Petroleum Corporation, Bapetco, PETROBEL, Khalda Petroleum Company (Apache), Agiba Petroleum Company, and Norpetco.
