Minister of Petroleum Inaugurates Integrated Development Project in Al-Tonab Village, Aswan

In line with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ social responsibility strategy, H.E. Eng. Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum, inaugurated the integrated development project in Al-Tonab village (Edfu, Aswan), executed by WADIQO in collaboration with Ganoub El Wadi Holding Company and Orman Charity Association.
The project marks Egypt’s first self-sufficient village model, featuring:
• 30 fully furnished homes
• Biogas units utilizing animal waste
• Solar energy systems
• Sustainable income sources through livestock and small-scale production projects
During his tour, Minister Badawy handed over house keys to beneficiary families and emphasized that this project reflects President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s vision for Upper Egypt and a decent life for all Egyptians.
He praised the synergy between the petroleum sector and civil society in delivering this milestone, highlighting the importance of clean energy, environmental sustainability, and empowering local communities.
Representatives from Aswan Governorate, WADIQO, Ganoub El Wadi, and Orman Association attended the inauguration, alongside ministry officials and local leaders.
