EGYPES 2025 High Committee Starts Preparations for the 8th Edition

The High Committee for the Egypt Energy Conference (EGYPES 2025) convened for its inaugural meeting, chaired by Eng. Kareem Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and attended by Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Eng. Mohamed El-Shimi, Minister of Public Enterprise, along with senior leaders from Egypt’s petroleum, energy, and global energy sectors.
The meeting focused on preparations for the 8th edition of the conference, set to take place in February 2025. Minister Badawy emphasized that the collaborative spirit of the new government is opening new horizons for achieving Egypt’s sustainable development goals. He noted that there is increasing interest from both global and local companies eager to participate in the event, highlighting the joint efforts between the Ministries of Petroleum and Electricity to increase renewable energy’s contribution to Egypt’s energy mix to 42% by 2030.
Dr. Esmat stressed that the conference serves as a critical platform to address the challenges facing the energy industry, with a particular focus on the future of green energy and hydrogen. He underscored the role of cutting-edge technologies in driving forward the country’s energy strategy.
Eng. El-Shimi pointed out that EGYPES provides a unique opportunity to deepen collaboration across various sectors, both locally and internationally, contributing to the realization of Egypt’s development plans. He emphasized the importance of localizing industries that support the energy sector, improving energy efficiency, and developing a skilled workforce to meet future challenges.
