The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its employees, with a strategic focus on bolstering occupational health and safety standards. In line with this commitment, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) has launched a series of four seminars titled "Safe Driving and Road Safety," held weekly in collaboration with PetroSafe, the Petroleum Safety and Environmental Services Company. These seminars are designed to elevate safety awareness and promote a strong safety culture among EGPC staff.
The seminars feature prominent participation from key industry figures, including Dr. Tamer Ayesh, Assistant Executive Director of EGPC for Safety and Environment, Mr. Ahmed Abdel Hamid, General Manager of Training and Technical Support, and Dr. Yasmin Desouky, Assistant General Manager of Training at PetroSafe.
During the inaugural seminar, Dr. Tamer Ayesh underscored the critical importance of promoting safe driving practices. He emphasized EGPC's unwavering commitment to partnering with PetroSafe in organizing these seminars to mitigate risks and safeguard the lives of employees and their families. Dr. Ayesh also announced plans for future seminars aimed at extending this crucial awareness to EGPC's subsidiary companies.
The session featured an in-depth presentation by Chemist Nair Nour El Din, former Assistant Head of EGAS for Health and Safety and a lecturer at PetroSafe. He provided a comprehensive overview of safe driving principles and risk management while driving, illustrated by real-world examples of accidents caused by non-compliance with safety guidelines. Additionally, participants were shown educational videos on safe driving practices and how to avoid common driving mistakes.
An interactive discussion session followed, during which participants' questions about driving responsibilities and handling various road situations were addressed. Attendees praised the seminar's valuable insights, recognizing that the knowledge gained will significantly contribute to reducing road risks and accidents, both in professional settings and personal life.
