Published on : 2024-08-14

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced the formation of a consulting committee to enhance field productivity and improve petroleum reservoir management through a scientific and practical approach that ensures sustainability, efficiency, and safety.

The committee includes current exploration and production officials, as well as experts who have made significant contributions to the Petroleum Sector. It can consult distinguished Egyptian professionals, both domestically and internationally, as needed.

Regular meetings will be held to review recommendations, devise implementation strategies, support the workforce, and address operational challenges. The committee will focus on applying advanced technologies, promoting safe operations, raising awareness of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge to maximize value.

This announcement followed a meeting attended by the Chairmen of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), the South Valley Egyptian Petroleum Holding Company (Ganope), and their deputies for Agreements, Exploration, and Production, along with senior Ministry officials.

The Minister emphasized the need to accelerate production rates and highlighted the crucial role of human capital, creative ideas, and modern technology in achieving this goal.

Minister Badawi stressed the importance of field visits and direct engagement with workers at various sites, as well as ongoing consultations with leaders of Egyptian and international production companies.

The Minister also confirmed that the Ministry’s program, presented to the parliamentary committee reviewing the Government’s agenda, is now being implemented. The program focuses on refining investment attraction policies, creating investment opportunities, and fully exploiting the Sector’s potential. It aims to bridge the gap between production and consumption by intensifying oil and gas exploration and encouraging partners to increase investments in developing new discoveries and expanding activities.

Minister Badawi reiterated the commitment to continuously enhancing human capital within the Petroleum Sector, improving operational efficiency, and maintaining strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
