Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, welcomed a high-level delegation from Italy's Eni, the largest investor in Egypt's energy sector. The delegation included Guido Brusco, Chief Operating Officer of Natural Resources, Martina Obizzi, President of North Africa and the Levant, Luca Vignati, Director of Exploration and Production, and several other senior officials from Eni.

At the outset of the meeting, Minister Badawi expressed his appreciation for Eni's role as a historic and strategic partner to Egypt in the energy sector. He highlighted the company's significant and prominent contribution, especially during challenging times, underscoring Eni's commitment to supporting Egypt's efforts in developing its energy resources.

Badawi emphasized the petroleum sector's aspiration for further shared successes with Eni, with a stronger focus on increasing production and developing oil and gas resources, as these are top priorities for Egypt's economy and energy sector. He noted that Eni's modern technologies in exploration and production have been crucial, contributing to significant discoveries such as the Zohr field.

The minister also stressed the importance of collaborating with Eni on energy efficiency projects, leveraging renewable energy resources, and reducing carbon emissions from oil and gas sites, highlighting Eni's readiness and enthusiasm in this area.

Guido Brusco, Eni's Chief Operating Officer, expressed his delight at meeting Minister Badawi following his appointment in the new Egyptian government. Brusco reaffirmed Eni's pride in its strong partnership with Egypt, which spans nearly 70 years and has seen numerous successes and overcome many challenges. He conveyed Eni's full confidence in Egypt and the petroleum and gas sector's commitment to their partnership.

Brusco confirmed Eni's dedication to implementing drilling programs in various fields in Egypt to boost production. The meeting also reaffirmed the importance of supporting cooperation in emissions reduction projects in the natural gas industry, in line with the memorandum of understanding signed between the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Eni.
