The Ministry is intensifying efforts to bring sector companies to environmental compatibility

Engineer Tariq Al Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a meeting with Dr. Yasmin Fouad, Minister of environment, within the framework of coordination between the two ministries to follow up on the position of integrated plans for effective and sustainable environmental reform with environmental standards and requirements stipulated by the Environmental Law and the executive procedures carried out by the oil companies operating in the provinces of Suez and the Red Sea Which includes the production companies, GAPCO, the General Petroleum Co. , Al Amal, Petrogulf and Zetco, in addition to the two oil refining companies Suez Petroleum Manufacturing and Nasr Petroleum, under the direction of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, to reach radical solutions. The problem of industrial exchange on the Gulf of Suez.

 The meeting was attended by Eng. Abed Ezz Al-Rijal, CEO of the Petroleum Authority and his assistant for the environment, occupational safety and health, chemist Jamal Fathi, the heads of the oil companies concerned, and Dr. Enas Abu Talib, CEO of the Environmental Affairs Agency.

 During the meeting, the executive position was reviewed for the measures taken by companies to reach environmental compatibility and the current position of these companies to submit tenders to major international companies in the field of industrial wastewater treatment for the establishment of treatment units.

 Al-Mulla proposed the formation of a high committee headed by the two ministers, the heads of the Petroleum Authority and the Environmental Affairs Agency, and the specialists from the authority and the agency to stand on the executive position and overcome any difficulties and adhere to the timetables set for environmental reform, and Dr. Yasmeen proposed assigning an environmental consultant to review the reform plans to be submitted by companies and submit a report on their fitness and environmental compatibility Before submitting it to the Environmental Affairs Agency.

 Al-Mulla indicated that it was agreed to hold a second meeting in the middle of next month to check the developments and the executive position as it was agreed upon, and that coordination meetings would be held that include specialists from the Petroleum Authority and the Environmental Protection Agency
