Marine Pollution Control on High Alert Following Refloating of Gas Ship in the Red Sea

The Marine Pollution Control Center in Sharm El Sheikh has activated emergency protocols following the grounding and subsequent refloating of an international gas ship in the Gulf of Aqaba within the Red Sea. 

As per a statement released by the Ministry of Environment on Saturday, the Nature Reserves Administration is currently undertaking legal and technical measures concerning the vessel. 

This incident occurred during the Eid holiday period, coinciding with the peak vacation season in Red Sea resorts. Dr. Ali Abu Sunna, head of the Environmental Affairs Agency of the ministry, conducted an inspection at the site of the incident located at the mouth of the gulf.
