Shell starts drilling final exploration well in Egypt campaign

Published on : 2024-04-15

Shell has spudded the final exploration probe offshore Egypt of its multi-well drilling campaign in the gas-rich Nile Delta play which began in September.

The UK-based supermajor made a gas discovery with its first probe, Mina-West-1, in the North East Al-Amriya Block, though more work needs to be done to assess its commerciality.

The drillship Stena Forth then moved off location to complete drilling to target depth of the Oud-1 well, the top section of which the rig had drilled earlier.
