El Molla Inspects and Inaugurates New Projects at Al-Hamra Petroleum Port

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, visited El Alamein’s Al-Hamra petroleum port to inspect and inaugurate several vital projects and initiatives led by the Western Desert Petroleum Company (WEPCO).

El Molla highlighted Al-Hamra Petroleum port as a significant opportunity for the petroleum sector, with a strategic geographical advantage and skilled workforce that will support achieving returns.

The minister inaugurated projects such as a petroleum products storage and shipment area project, with a capacity of approximately 400,000 tons, to support the new urban community and industrial areas with their fuel demands. The project aims to streamline traffic and reduce pressure on the coastal road transportation of petroleum products.

El Molla inspected an ongoing expansion project aimed at increasing the storage capacity of the Al-Hamra port which would extend the northern grounds of the port aiming to maximize the flow of crude oil, both in terms of reception and circulation.

Additionally, El Molla inaugurated a series of modernization and efficiency projects, including the establishment of a solar power plant with a capacity of 500 kilowatts.

The minister inaugurated a new oil charging pump station designed to double the capacity and speed of crude shipments through incorporating three lifting pumps (355 kilowatts each) and three main pumps (1.1 megawatts each), and is projected to boost the daily crude shipping rate to one million barrels.

El Molla approved the start of operations for a state-of-the-art warehouse dedicated to storing crude oil, boasting a capacious capacity of 630,000 barrels, boosting the port's existing storage capability to 2.8 million barrels.

Underscoring the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' dedication to fostering secure and safe work environments El Molla inaugurated a project geared towards the modernization of security and safety systems within the confines of the Al-Hamra port.
