Egypt’s chemicals exports grow 23% in 2022

Mubasher: Egypt's exports of chemicals and fertilisers jumped by 23% during 2022 to $8.62 billion from $7.33 billion in 2021, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) cited Egypt’s Chemical and Fertilisers Export Council.

The chemicals sector accounted for 24% of Egypt’s total non-petroleum exports.

Exports of fertilisers went up by 42% yearly in 2022 to reach $3.38 billion, while plastics exports grew by 1% annually to $2.46 billion. In addition, exports of inorganic chemicals skyrocketed by 105% to $1.31 billion.

Egypt's exports of chemicals and fertilisers to the top important markets grew by 32% to $3.60 billion last year, compared to $4.74 billion in 2021. For instance, exports to Italy and India rose by 58% and 16%, respectively to stand at $726.50 million and $528.54 million, respectively.

In the meantime, exports to France increased by 44% to $488 million while exports to Britain and Spain climbed by 149% to $473.06 million and 50% to $410.58 million, respectively.

During the first nine months (9M) of 2022, Egypt’s exports of chemicals and fertilisers grew by 31% on annual basis to stand at $6.47 billion.
