Fadhili Gas Plant Expansion: Aramco Awards $7.7 Billion in EPC Contracts

Aramco Grants $7.7 Billion in EPC Contracts for Fadhili Gas Plant Expansion in Saudi ArabiaSaudi Aramco has recently awarded engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts worth $7.7 billion to facilitate a significant expansion of the Fadhili Gas Plant located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. 

The primary objective of these contracts is to augment the plant's processing capacity from 2.5 to 4 billion standard cubic feet per day (bscf/d).The EPC contracts for the Fadhili Gas Plant expansion project have been awarded to esteemed companies, including SAMSUNG Engineering Company, GS Engineering & Construction Corporation, and Nesma & Partners.

This expansion initiative, aiming to increase processing capacity by 1.5 bscf/d, is in line with Aramco's strategic objective of elevating gas production by more than 60% by 2030, compared to levels recorded in 2021.Scheduled for completion by November 2027, the extension project for the Fadhili Gas Plant is poised to bolster sulphur production by an additional 2,300 metric tons per day.

Wail Al Jaafari, Aramco's Executive Vice President of Technical Services, emphasized the significance of these contract awards, affirming Aramco's commitment to augmenting natural gas supplies, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and optimizing crude oil utilization for value-added refining and export purposes. Al Jaafari further underscored Aramco's collaboration with leading international firms to advance its gas production objectives. Additionally, he highlighted how the expansion aligns with Aramco's aspirations to develop a lower-carbon hydrogen business and underscored the importance of associated gas liquids as crucial feedstock for the petrochemical sector.
