Shell Egypt is set to ramp up its natural gas production in the country by an additional 170 million cubic feet per day by the end of December, according to a government source who spoke to Asharq under the condition of anonymity.
The increase comes as part of ongoing development efforts in collaboration with Shell and Malaysia’s Petronas, focusing on three fields in the West Nile Delta offshore concession. “We have already added 40 million cubic feet per day in October and 65 million cubic feet per day in November, with another 65 million cubic feet per day expected to come online in December,” the source confirmed.
Located 90 kilometers off Egypt’s northern coastline and about 110 kilometers northeast of Alexandria, the West Nile Delta fields lie at depths ranging from 300 to 1,200 meters.
The project is operated by Burullus Gas Company, a joint venture between Shell Egypt, Petronas, and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).
