Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, officially inaugurated the Mediterranean Offshore Conference (MOC) in Alexandria today. The conference, held under the theme “Mapping the Future of Energy in the Mediterranean: Advancing Exploration, Development, and Production through Decarbonization Technologies for a Sustainable Tomorrow”, brings together key stakeholders to shape the future of the region’s energy landscape.
The three-day event is attended by prominent figures, including Cyprus’s Minister of Energy, George Papanastasiou, the Secretary General of the Greek Ministry of Energy, and representatives from major international energy organizations. Notable attendees include the Secretary General of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum and the Director General of the Mediterranean Energy Observatory, alongside leaders from Egypt’s petroleum sector, executives from global energy and technology firms, and industry experts, as reported by MENA.
A key objective of the conference is to foster collaboration between Mediterranean countries and investors, forge new strategic partnerships, and facilitate the exchange of expertise to drive energy sector advancements.
The program features several high-level sessions, gathering industry leaders, senior executives, international organizations, and investors to explore practical solutions for tapping into the Mediterranean’s vast energy potential.
Minister Karim Badawi emphasized the importance of the MOC as a premier technical platform for discussing all aspects of regional energy activities. He noted that this event provides a vital opportunity for stakeholders to exchange insights, build partnerships, and explore innovative solutions to the pressing challenges in the energy industry.
The Mediterranean Offshore Conference and Exhibition (MOC), launched in 2000, alternates biennially between Alexandria and Ravenna, Italy. Its last edition was held in Alexandria in 2019, and the conference returns this year with a refreshed format, aiming to solidify its role as a key event in the global energy calendar.
