GASCO: 72 bcm of gas pumped through national grid in 2022

The Chairman of Egyptian Natural Gas Company, Yasser Salah El Din, stated that the total amount of natural gas transported through the national grid reached 72 billion cubic meters (bcm) and the natural gas exports increased by 33% in 2022.

The chairman’s remarks came during the general assembly meeting of the company chaired by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, to approve the company’s operational results for the year 2022.

Also, Salah El Din added that the total length of the main pipelines reached 8,264 km, transporting 262 million cubic meter per day (mmcm/d) after the implementation of the national grid expansion project.

Concerning natural gas processing, Salah El Din said that the company managed to produce high-value gas derivatives of 2.1 million tons through the natural gas complex in the Western Desert and the butane extraction plant in Al-Amreya.

The chairman said that GASCO is currently expanding the natural gas complex in the Western Desert by adding the fourth line to extract gas derivatives of high economic value from Ravin field and Western Desert’s fields. This is also to increase the production of butane and condensates to meet local market needs in addition to the production of commercial propane to be exported to international markets.

During the meeting, El Molla highlighted that the developments in natural gas distribution and transportation became an added value and cope with the growth of natural gas exploration and production. He noted that, however, this needs a great effort and implementing the work plans in a stable manner and having capability to face challenges .
