It added that the total quantities of petroleum products transported by railway tanks amounted to 276,900 metric tonnes. The average transportation cost per tonne stood at EGP 74, compared to 282,500 metric tonnes, a decrease of 2%, which represents the least quantities transported.

According to CAPMAS, the quantities transported by trucks reached 19.2m metric tonnes in FY 2019/20, with an average transportation cost of EGP 54 compared to 27m metric tonnes in FY 2018/19, a decrease of 28.8%.

The quantities transported by the Sumed line reached 64.1m metric tonnes, representing the highest quantities transported, compared to 61.2m metric tonnes, reflecting an increase of 4.7%.

CAPMAS noted that the number of the main petroleum pipelines amounted to 83, with a total length of 5,900 km in FY 2019/20, compared to 80 lines with a total length of 5,800 km in FY 2018/19.
