Egypt: Petroleum Min. Meets CEO of BP in London

Tarek EL-Molla, the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources met with Bernard Looney, CEO of British Petroleum (BP), Anja Isabelle, on the sidelines of his tour to promote green investment in the capital, London.

EL-Molla and the company's delegation valued the strategic relations and prosperous partnership that extend for decades, as the two sides affirmed their aspiration to strengthen cooperation bonds, especially in the field of implementing emissions reductions, energy transformation, in addition to green hydrogen production.

El-Molla stressed that the oil and gas sector in Egypt is moving steadily according to a clear roadmap towards achieving more discoveries and increasing production to secure energy supplies locally as well as contributing to providing energy supplies at the regional and international levels, taking into account preserving the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving sustainability.

El-Molla also praised BP's continuous keenness to support the process of building and developing the capabilities of human cadres within the strategy of developing and modernizing the sector and the program of the Ministry of Petroleum to qualify young and medium leaders in its first and second editions, in which the company contributed by providing theoretical and practical training inside and outside the country for distinguished participants in the program.

On their part, BP officials affirmed the company's commitment to its plans for drilling and developing wells in Egypt, stressing the company's keenness to support the efforts of the Egyptian oil sector in the field of reducing emissions, pointing also to Egypt's potential to become a regional center for green hydrogen.

It is noteworthy that El-Molla was keen to hold a meeting via videoconference with a group of participants in the second edition of the program, who are currently in Manchester as part of the training program provided by BP Company within the framework of  refining skills and exchanging experiences, as well as getting acquainted with the best international practices applied by the strategic international partners in the sector.
